OUR STUDENTS

The Disrupt Harlem Code Squad is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) program created by the Harlem Business Alliance to connect Harlem’s young adults to the NYC tech industry. DHCS prepares young adults for the growing opportunities at the intersection of tech and entrepreneurship.

The Curriculum

The Disrupt Harlem Code Squad is a part-time program. Students meet 3 days a week.

The curriculum includes:

Front-End Development
HTML, CSS, Javascript
Back-End Development
Javascript, Python, React
Entrepreneurship & Business Skills
Students create their own company and product using the Lean-Startup Model and Design Thinking
Career Development
Resumes, Cover Letters, LinkedIn Profiles & Interviewing Skills
Networking
Mentor Lunches & Trips, Conferences with tech-entrepreneurs, founders and young professionals from companies like LinkedIn, Google, Airbnb, Genius and more
Emotional Intelligence, Project Experience and Group Work
To introduce “soft” skills that often affect success in a career.
